Is a PPE register the same as a PPE matrix?

No. A PPE matrix identifies the PPE required for particular jobs, tasks, hazards or work areas. A PPE issue register records the PPE that was actually issued to a specific employee or contractor. The matrix defines requirements; the register records fulfilment and history.

A matrix can show that a role requires a hard hat, eye protection, hearing protection and safety footwear. The issue register then shows the actual items, sizes, quantities and dates supplied to the employee in that role.
