Connect each employee to the PPE issued
An issue register answers who received what and when. Include the employee name or number, the PPE description, quantity, issue date and person who issued it. Add size, specification and acknowledgement where your process needs them.
Keep issue records distinct from inspections and training records. An acknowledgement confirms receipt; it does not by itself show that the employee was trained or that the equipment is suitable for a particular hazard.
Choose a format you can maintain
A paper form or Excel workbook can suit a small team. An online PPE register becomes useful when several people update records or equipment moves between employees and sites. Whichever format you choose, preserve previous issues and keep the records retrievable.
