Custom Asset Tags South Africa
Custom asset tags South Africa: create branded QR code asset tags and barcode labels online, print them on your own label stock, and connect your equipment to an organised register. Use your own logo, links and sequential numbering, with free tools for single labels or bulk batches.
Design the label. Connect the equipment.
An asset tag identifies a physical item. An equipment register connects that ID to the asset name, serial number, location and person responsible. EquipLoop brings those records together, while the free tools let you prepare printable labels immediately.
- Custom company logo and human-readable asset IDs
- QR codes for your links; Code 128 or Code 39 for short IDs
- Sequential numbering or CSV batches of up to 250 labels
- PNG, SVG, A4 PDF and individual label-printer pages
Which asset label material do you need?
Match the material to the surface and conditions. Confirm the stock specification with the supplier before ordering or printing a batch.
| Material | Typical use | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Polyester adhesive labels | Laptops, monitors, office equipment | Surface compatibility, abrasion and cleaning resistance |
| Tamper-evident / VOID labels | High-value electronics and security seals | Removal indication, adhesive performance and residue |
| Anodised or engraved aluminium | Tools, machinery and outdoor assets | Rated UV, chemical and temperature resistance; adhesive or fixings |
For manufactured options, see MERQ’s asset labels and AssetTagsSA. These are independent suppliers. Request current material specifications, pricing, lead times and artwork requirements directly.
Print labels from your equipment dashboard
Create an equipment item or individual unit in EquipLoop. Its detail page includes an Equipment QR code card with a Customise & print label action. The label opens that equipment record, including its recorded details and assignment history, for users with access.
- Open Equipment and select an item, or select the individual tracked unit.
- Choose Customise & print label, then select size and layout and add optional branding.
- Download the label PDF or print at actual size, attach it and test the scan.
Before you print a batch
- Use unique IDs and keep the latest numbering sequence in your register.
- Choose QR codes for phone-friendly links and short linear barcodes for supported scanners.
- Keep the code black on white and preserve the blank space around it.
- Print at 100% / Actual size. The A4 layout uses full-sheet sticker stock or plain paper.
- Test scanning at the printed size and check adhesion on the actual equipment surface.
Custom asset tags South Africa: questions answered
Where can I get custom asset tags in South Africa?
You can design and print your own QR and barcode asset labels using EquipLoop’s free online tools, or order physical tags from a specialist manufacturer. MERQ and AssetTagsSA are examples of local suppliers. EquipLoop provides label design and equipment tracking software; it does not manufacture or deliver physical tags.
Can I add sequential numbering and my company logo?
Yes. The free tools support your own logo, a company name and sequential IDs with a prefix, start number and number padding. You can also import up to 250 rows per batch from a CSV. Keep a master register of issued IDs so later batches do not duplicate existing tags.
Which material should I use for laptops and office equipment?
Adhesive labels are a practical option for indoor laptops, monitors and office equipment. Consider polyester for durability or tamper-evident stock where removal needs to be visible. Confirm adhesion, finish and cleaning requirements with your label supplier.
Which asset tags suit outdoor tools and heavy machinery?
Ask a manufacturer about anodised aluminium, laser-engraved metal or other industrial stock suited to the actual environment. Specify UV exposure, chemicals, abrasion, temperature and attachment method. A design file alone does not make a label suitable for those conditions.
What is the difference between tamper-evident and VOID labels?
Tamper-evident labels are intended to show signs of removal. Some destructible materials break apart; VOID labels leave a visible pattern or residue. Performance depends on the label stock, adhesive and surface, so test samples on your equipment.
Can I print labels directly from my equipment dashboard?
Yes. Open an equipment item or individual unit in EquipLoop, then select Customise & print label in the Equipment QR code card. Choose a size and layout, optionally add your logo, and print or download a PDF. The QR code links to that equipment record for authorised users.
Can a QR asset tag open my own website?
Yes. In the free asset tag generator, enter your own URL. For a bulk batch, include {id} in the link template or supply an individual value for each CSV row. Your destination website controls what a visitor can see or do after scanning.
How much do custom asset tags cost?
EquipLoop’s standalone label generators are free to use. Printing, label stock, printers and manufacturer orders have separate costs. For physical tags, request a quote based on quantity, material, dimensions, branding, numbering and delivery requirements.
Do you sell metal asset tags or offer physical printing?
EquipLoop offers online design, downloadable label files and equipment tracking. We do not sell metal tags, provide a physical print service or promise manufacturer durability ratings. Use a specialist supplier if you need manufactured metal or security labels.
